Carmel-by-the-Sea (Carmel) is one of the treasures of California. The views are magnificent, the beach pristine, the landscaping beautifully executed, and the sum of its varied architectural styles makes it a city unique in all America, maybe the world. There are scattered fairy-tale, cottage-like homes, narrow alleyways filled with charming, hidden shops, and plenty a restaurant to sit down at and have a nice meal. The atmosphere is friendly, and the weather is perfect - never too hot, and never too cold.
