Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
Douglas firs are beautiful, large trees, found primarily in Western or Northwestern America. They are most widely known for their use in the construction industry, but its wood, bark and leaves has apparently been used for many other purposes as well. Despite its name, Douglas firs are not actually considered true fir species (Abies spp.), but rather are in a class of their own. Pseudotsuga means false hemlock.
